Flew by my shoulder yesterday
A butterfly so beautiful
Blue, black, with a hint of gray
It fluttered, rather cheerful
It caught my eye, the lovely blue
Mesmerizing and quite a view
It reminded me of clear blue skies
And softly sung lullabies
Blue bells it fluttered around
Its color matching the background
From one flower to the next it flew
As if trying to find something new
Sunlight on its dainty wings
Like blueberries blooming in springs
Akin to our childhood memories
When we were free from miseries
It feels like a paradise
But also, a bittersweet goodbye
Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise
To see a blue butterfly
