The Longing
I’ve read the books, I’ve seen the shows.
I’ve heard the songs, and, honestly, it shows.
I’ve spent so long imagining this—
What it feels like to love, to exist in bliss.
They all say it’s magic, but also a mess.
It’s worth every moment but still leaves you stressed.
I’ve never known it, not really, not yet,
But I’m hoping there’s more than just a silhouette.
Love, are you out there? Can you hear me tonight?
I’m waiting, just waiting—can you get this right?
I don’t need a prince or a grand parade,
Just someone to see me, unafraid.
The Meeting
And then, there you were—just there.
No warning signs, no heavenly glare.
Just a laugh that made the world slow down,
And eyes that softened this tired town.
At first, we were nothing—just hello and goodbye.
A few jokes here, a glance, a sigh.
You weren’t perfect, and neither was I,
But somehow with you, it all felt right.
I don’t even know when it changed for me,
When I started waiting just to see
The way you smiled, the things you’d say,
The way you’d laugh and look my way.
The Beginning
You’d tease me, and I’d roll my eyes,
But somewhere in those moments, I realized—
This is love, isn’t it? The soft, slow kind.
It’s not sudden—it’s something you find.
But saying it? God, that took time.
I practiced and stumbled; I rewrote the line.
And then, one night, with my heart in my throat,
I told you in whispers, like a fragile note:
“I think I’m in love. With you, I mean.”
The words hung there, too sharp, too clean.
For a second, you stared, and I braced for the fall,
But then you smiled and broke it all.
“I love you too.” Just three quiet words.
It didn’t need fireworks or worlds overturned.
It was in the quiet, the steady, the true—
In the way I found home the moment I found you.
