An Excerpt

Updated: Oct 29, 2023

This is my contribution from a story co-authored with friends.

And just like that, it appeared as though two lost souls had been reconciled. Their grins were as radiant as sunshine, and their spirits were as free as birds. The leaves on the trees turned from an emerald green to yellow to a tranquil carnelian, until they fell, as if falling in love with the ground. As they sauntered on the carpet of fallen leaves, the two bonded exceptionally. Words were no longer necessary for a conversation; a glance was equivalent to an entire dialogue. But, like I've seen countless times, friendships are ephemeral. We tend to take things for granted as we get accustomed to them, no matter how wonderful they may be. Miniscule mistakes and excuses between friends build gradually over time, widening to form a massive and yawning abyss.
